Gogyohka Blog

in twitter i follow several poets from different countries and by happenstance saw poetic posts with the hashtag gogyohka and checked what it means.

#gogyohka is a new form of Japanese Poetry which simply means verse written in five lines. for a variety of tweet posts i gradually tried gogyohka and posted them as either #gpoem and #5lines.  here are some of my favorite five lines.

Eidolons~final~journey~ through~ the light

in both
my early
and late moments
you crowd my thoughts
you saturate my emotions

sometimes
life isn't waiting
for the hurricane to pass
it's about learning
to unwind in the rain

will you believe me
                        when i say
i'm still here
loving you
quietly

when i'm
melancholy
i revisit your poetry
            i still believe
you did cherish me
real people
             aren't
                     perfect
                              perfect people
                                                  aren't real

i'm his magnum opus
              he plays me nimbly
                            between pianissimo to fortissimo
                                                              allegro to virtuoso
                                                                              until I reach grand crescendo

often
          our lives
                     are punctuated
                                          by moments
                                                         of staying or leaving

childhood memories
                        of agrarian
                                       related follies
                                                  catching butterflies & fireflies
                                                                                scared of goblin and fairies

 grotesque pain
                       envelop me
                                        as i close
                                                     life's incomplete
                                                                                 chapter

if I could choose
                        to be anywhere
                                                with anyone
                                                            i'll always choose you
        where ever you are

read me
            when i'm silent
 i may be crying inside
                                                                mulling a problem
                                                                                             needing a hug

sometimes it's
better to stop trying
to fix something broken
start all over
and create something better

gradually
            the enigma
                        unravels
 endearing
 pieces of you

  3. The thought process is versed in such tender manner that it is a pleasing experience to read the same gogyohka many times more. The pauses add to the substance. "when i'm/ melancholy/ i revisit your poetry/i still believe/ you did cherish me" :- I do believe you enter the mind and heart of the people who read your work - just keep it on.

    \when i'm \ melancholy \ i revisit your poetry \ i still believe \ you did cherish me\

It was a beautiful experience while it lasted, no regrets :)

  5. Exactly what jmbhatt said so beautifully, with the addition of "provocative," as your blog has presented ideas to think about, twist about my brain... They seem planted specifically for me. What a gift!

  8. Hi, Ysabeluna!

It is I, #lqw buddy @zenDecision, that is, Gabrielle/Gabriella Austen. [I let my personas duke it out!] :D

"every time i revisit the lines, they
still resonate same feelings i had
    when they were written."

I know what you mean. When your heart writes the lines, it leaves a residue... that tracks back to you.

    'Happy I found your blog...

  10. Thank you.

I look forward to your tweet/photo combo posts and -- in the future -- your novel-writing days (we could commiserate: I'm so stuck in the editing/revising discipline stage).

    Cheers.
